Productivity
Spectrum XF's productivity features maximize scanner efficiency and uptime. At the same time, they significantly reduce the need for document preparation or operator intervention
- Spectrum XF is a time machine
No, it won't transport you back to prehistoric times, but it may improve your future. What we mean is Spectrum XF creates time by saving you plenty of it.
- Speed Up Any Application
Spectrum XF combines the industry's finest cameras, onboard image enhancement and a proven paper handling system to deliver some of the fastest speeds in its scanner class. As it burns through as many as 140 pages per minute, here are some facts to consider:
In document capture applications, Spectrum XF scans up to 30% faster in color (200 dpi) and up to 17% faster in bitonal (200 dpi) than previous Spectrum models.
In forms processing applications, Spectrum XF scans up to 15% faster in bitonal (300 dpi) than previous Spectrum models.
- Eliminate Multifeed Errors
There are few bigger timewasters than multifeeds — when more than one document passes through the scanner at a time. Some scanners detect multifeeds but still force you to rescan the entire document batch to capture the problem document. Even worse, the document could go undetected, omitting critical information.
Good thing Spectrum XF features ultrasonic multifeed detection, a groundbreaking technology pioneered and perfected by BBH. This feature automatically senses any multifeed, stops the scanner and notifies the operator. The operator must simply return the troublesome documents to the feeder and resume scanning. No need to delete bad images or rescan the batch. With the help of intelligent onboard VirtualRescan® technology, Spectrum XF takes care of the rest.
Some documents — such as envelopes, sticky notes and taped items — present special problems. These documents can trigger multifeeds when a scanner operator would rather just let them go through.
Enter Ignore by Size — an ingenious technology only available in Spectrum XF that allows for maximum control and versatility. This feature commands the scanner to ignore "multifeeds" up to a preset length. The scanner operator simply selects a maximum length, and the scanner allows intended documents to pass through without interruption.
- Reduce Document Preparation
Preparing documents for scanning can often take longer than scanning them. Spectrum XF works to reduce document sorting (and paper cuts) by automating manual tasks. Say hello to happier, more productive employees.
The automatic document feeder can handle up to 500 sheets at a time. This frees scanner operators from having to load new document batches frequently so they can spend time on other things. And Spectrum XF's durable, stainless steel paper path supports exceptional paper handling: It handles documents from 2.60 x 2.60 inches (66 mm x 66 mm) up to 11.70 x 40 inches (297 mm x 1016 mm), and from 9 - 110 lb. bond paper weight, with ease.
In addition, Spectrum XF has many valuable onboard image enhancement tools that significantly reduce document preparation.
Image Quality
Spectrum XF's advanced SharpShooter™ camera technology ensures accurate capture and crisp image quality, consistently. Built-in image enhancement features help the scanner turn even the trickiest documents into dazzling color, black-and-white or grayscale images. Best of all, Spectrum XF scrubs images clean without sacrificing speed.
- Spectrum XF is a virtual airbrush
It creates images that are cleaner and crisper than the original documents. Because what good are document images if an application or employee can't read the information in them?
- Don't Miss a Pixel
Spectrum XF has SharpShooter™ Trilinear CCD cameras. That's a fancy way of saying "some of the finest camera technology in the industry, bar none." These high-precision cameras capture bitonal, color and grayscale images at 600 dpi optical capture, in immaculate detail, without scanner slowdown. And only BBH has them.
- Create Picture-Perfect Images
Every Spectrum XF scanner comes with VirtualReScan® (VRS) advanced image enhancement. With VRS, each image that passes from scanner to PC to file or workflow is automatically cropped, deskewed and adjusted for brightness and contrast.
As with document capture, forms processing depends on easy-to-read, high-res images. Fortunately, Spectrum XF produces the clearest black-and-white images for highly accurate OCR, ICR and barcode recognition.
Spectrum XF works with VRS to reduce document preparation time. The scanner's auto-orientation capability automatically rotates images so they are right-side-up, regardless of the document's orientation during scanning. Blank page deletion automatically deletes images of documents that contain no information, such as the backs of one-sided documents.
- Clear Image Bottlenecks (Even in Color)
For BBH, it wasn't enough to include image enhancement with Spectrum XF. We took it a step further and built image enhancement into the scanner itself. The result: onboard image enhancement — sophisticated image processing that doesn't sacrifice productivity.
BBH was the first manufacturer to install hardware VRS in a scanner for faster image processing at rated speeds. Gaining from the company's experience, Spectrum XF strikes a perfect balance between hardware and software image enhancement.
If you scan color documents, you know it can hurt productivity. Color images are larger, move slower and take up far more bytes in storage. With onboard image enhancement, however, Spectrum XF powers through the problem. The scanner provides the following advanced color features, which help reduce file size, without throughput loss:
Auto Color Detect automatically distinguishes color documents from black-and-white documents in mixed batches.
Color Background Saturation automatically "smooths" a color document background to uniform color.
Color Background Dropout automatically eliminates color from a document's background and makes it white instead.
Spectrum XF also features advanced color dropout, which can remove any color from a document image — up to three different colors per side. Now you can design forms worry-free and drop out unnecessary color from the scanned images. It also helps save valuable file space.
Low Cost of Scanning
Service costs. Maintenance needs. Consumable parts. To get the best value for your technology investment, you've got to look beyond list price. When you consider the long-term costs of scanning, we think you'll agree that Spectrum XF is one of the most cost-effective scanners on the market.
- Spectrum XF is a penny pincher.
The longer you use it, the more money you save. Good thing Spectrum XF lasts a very long time.
- Maximizing Scanning Uptime.
Your business cannot afford scanner downtime. Every moment your scanner — or operator — stands idle is money out the door.
No need to worry. Spectrum XF has minimal service and maintenance requirements. Made in the U.S.A., the scanner contains no flimsy parts. And it helps that Spectrum XF's consumables are among the longest lasting of any scanner in its class. Rollers and lamps are user-replaceable and easy to clean. Rollers last 600,000 scans. Lamps last 5,000 hours.
With durable, time-tested components, you're likely to spend less on parts and service over the life of the scanner — and reduce the headaches that come with unpredictable performance.
